Read Only OneNote Notebooks

I cannot seem to find the answer to this question anywhere.

I am involved in a laptop programme for high school students in Ireland and
we are using OneNote for some aspects of the programme. I wish to make a
single notebook on all the students laptops read only as they are deleting
notes (pages of a printout of a pdf) by mistake.

Can anyone help me with this, please.

Thanks

I think there is no "official" concept for a read only notebook, because
this would be a contradiction in itself for a notetaking program ;-)

But I see some possibilities:

1. a rather restrictive one: prepare a single section = a single *.one
file and let it open using win explorer. It will get a special temporary
treatment by ON. It's read-only and will be closed automatically by
closing ON.

2. Save a whole notebook as PDF and distribute that.

3. Save a whole notebook as a .onepkg file and distribute that. It can
be changed, but it's only a copy for playing around with it.

Store two copies on the notebook and create a scheduled task to copy the
original to the working copy at each login. Any changes are automatically
replaced each time they login.

Are these notebooks owned by the students or laptops borrowed by the
students?

In case the latter a workaround might be to restrict the permissions for
the directory where the notebooks are stored.

In case the students have access to the web whilst working in the
project, totally different way might be to store the notebooks on a
website.
If this might be a possibility you could use the "OneNote Web Exporter"
