Hi- I have a network with XP clients and a 2000 Server.
My clients are having problems with opening Word
documents. Some of them are opening as Read-Only. I set
it up in the registry of the local machine to release the
temp file, however this does not seem to be helping. One
user in particular is having problems with this. Some
days are better than others. The other users have it
happen occasionally however, I dont know what else to
do. Can you help PLEASE!!!

Just in case, have you checked the permissions on the
folder where the files are stored. I am pretty sure that
if you have the permissions as read and execute only, they
files will be opening as read-only since they can not
write to the network location where the file is stored.
Just a thought. Max

Thank you for the response. The users all have the
proper permissions, but I appreciate any input.

This happens to a customer I support as well. Win2k,
Word 2k, file located locally. It opens as read only,
and then it can be closed and opened and it opens fine.
Any resolution?
