read only

I created a document that some how became "read only" so
when I try to change something it will not let me save it
to a disk because it is read protected. How can I change
it? I have windows ME. Using microsoft word.

Absolutely not an expert, but;
Explorer, right click the document then
"Properties->General->Attributes:"
and see if the "Read Only" is checked, if so de-select it.
Was a CD involved in the creation/loading of the document?
If it was then the document will become read only when copied to the CD.
As an aside, if that's the case, never save/open directly to/from a CD.
Copy to your HD first.
