reading layout try again

the winword thing in run doesn't work.

the version of word is 2003 and your link only refers to 2002 regards
registry value.
how about an answer that helps?

every time someone sends me a word document as an attachment it always opens
in reading layout. this layout often misses out text, figures in quotations
and is not ergonomic.

i have changed the settings as per the various replies on this forum to
enable it to open normally but each time i
shut down it defaults back to the reading layout.

how can it be changed permanently? so it is in print layout forever as per
previous word. it is upsetting my customers and also my
staff as it is a pain to keep having to manually adjust something all the
time, every day

You are guaranteeing that no one will help you if you keep starting a new
thread every time you are dissatisfied with the existing one. The linked
article applies to *all* versions of Word. If you can't start Word using
winword /a, then you have more problems than Reading Layout view.
