Rebuilding OLAP Cube

N

Nikhil Aggarwal

Hi

I had created a new cube with Projects count as a measure and used
existing Project dimensions with it. This I added to the
MSP_Portfolio_Analyzer virtual cube. After processing all the cubes,
values were being reflected correctly in Analysis server as well as
PWA.

Next I added a new value to the Project Location Outline Code in
enterprise global using Project Professional.

I have observed that whenever I update the OLAP cube from PWA by
selecting the option :
"Yes, I want to update resource availability information and build an
OLAP cube" under the "Build the OLAP cube" section
-- The structure of the MSP_Portfolio_Analyzer cube is reverted back to
the original which is made when the cube is built for the first time.

Is this an expected behaviour?

When I select the option :
"No, I only want to update resource availability information "
-- The page refreshes and the current cube status still shows that the
cube was sucessfully built 1 month back. Also the new value is not
available under the dimension field in both PWA and Analysis Server.

Is their any other method using which I can rebuild the cube without
removing the structure modifications done previously ?

Thanks
Nikhil

To do this on a permenent basis you need to change the code that
Project Server uses to generate the cube. If you go to
http://msdn.microsoft.com/project you should find articles on extending
the olap cube.
