Receive 2 Copies of Every Email Message

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

On my laptop, MacBook Pro, I receive 2 copies of every incoming email message, but on my iMac desktop, it operates properly, only 1 copy of each message. I can't find anything on Preferences, or in Account set-up that regulates that and can't find anything in Help section. How can I stop getting double copies of every incoming email message?

What type of account? (POP, IMAP, Exchange)
