receiving duplicate e-mail messages

When I open Outlook and recieve my mail I get a duplicate of every message,
so if I have 10 new messages I end up with 20.

What version of Outlook do you have? If you have Outlook 2002, see if

How many accounts do you have? What sort of accounts? When you say you get
a duplicate of every message, do you mean that two copies get downloaded
when you receive, or that you already have a copy and then another copy is
downloaded?
