Receiving E-Mails

I use Outlook Express for my emails and have been doing so for a number of
years. Today, it seems to have locked up while receiving email number 8 of
31. I can't seemed to 'reset' this. Even turning off the computer (the
computer 'closes' programs not responding), doesn't seem to work. Any ideas
of how I can unlock this logjam?

Delete the messages you downloaded from the web server?
