Receiving Mailer Daemon messages on emails I never sent

In the past 10 days or so, I've been receiving all kinds of returned mail
messages -- some from Mailer Daemon, some from other "supposed" post offices.
Each references an address that I have never sent to. I never open any,
just delete them, but I'm wondering if anyone is having the same troubles?
I've scanned my entire system and found nothing but the usual tracking
cookies, etc. I don't know how to stop them. Any thoughts would be greatly
appreciated -- it's making me nervous!

I've seen the same increase to my home email addy. Basically it means that
someone that has your e-mail address has been infected. That machine in
turn is spreading crap or has uploaded your email address to another place
for use. So don't be nervous and just realize that email isn't secure or
trustworthy because anyone can pretend to be anyone else.

It's probably someone sending messages using your email address. Some
worms/viruses do that on some machines where they scan the machine for email
addresses and use them to send mail. It's not your machine that's infected
(most likely), but someone else's
