Receiving receipts when I delete my sent items?

I have read receipts turned on my client, Outlook 2003 running off an
Exchange 2003 server.

They work fine - I send an email to someone, and I get the receipt
when it's opened.

However, when I delete things from my sent items folder (marked as
read as they always are, so they're not even "unread" mail) I get a
deluge of "Not Read" messages from myself, even though I was nowhere
in any of the "to" or "cc" or "bcc" fields.

This is something that started happening more recently, but not due to
any changes on my system.

Anyone else seen this?

Are you sure that the Not Read receipts are coming from you? Reason I ask is
that there are programs out there that can blast you with receipts if you
annoy the person by asking for a read receipt. I know because I have the
program and use it liberally.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, JDTHREE [MVP]

No, they're from me. I can have say 10 things in my sent items -
delete them, and bam, there the receipts are. And just now, trying
again, I did it by sending mails to people either on vacation or
already out of the office, can check their mailboxes, and see them
still there unread. If I mark it as read, I get another receipt from
them.

Very strange... And I can't go in my sent items and mark them as read
since they're already marked read. I tried to mark them unread, then
mark them read, don't get a receipt, then still get one when I delete
them.

I don't know what the problem is, but do you have Outlook to ask if it
should send a receipt? That will allow you to say no, don't send a receipt
when you delete.

Yes, this is set. But I still get them - somehow it's overriding even
that setting because it's from within the same mailbox I'd guess - but
I just don't know why a sent item that was never marked as "unread" to
start would generate receipts to myself when I delete my sent items.

I'll have to start with a base install of XP Tablet on this machine
and have nothing but office installed and see. I haven't added any
apps since before this started happening, but I'm sure a few have had
updates that have been applied - maybe one of them is causing some
kind of issue.

I am having the same type of problem. When I delete items from the Deleted
Items folder I get a "Not read" receipt in my inbox no matter who the email
was to or whether or not it was read. Has anyone come up with an answer to
this?
