The recent documents list is set to remember some maximum number of
recently opened documents. Once that number is reached, newer documents
added to the list will cause older documents to roll off the list. A
green thumbtack indicates the file is "pinned" to the recent documents
list, which means it won't roll off the list no matter how many other
documents are opened.
