Recently used file

I need to activate my recently used file. But, the
option which is located in general tab is dimmed. So, I
cannot choose and, thus activate it. Can anybody help.

If you are using TweakUI or some other utility (or a registry change) that
hides the recent documents in Windows then the recent documents in Excel
will also be gone
