Recieving Notification for New Hotmail Emails in Outlook 2003

D

David Lai

Hi everyone

I have setup Outlook 2003 to recieve my emails from my hotmail account. I do have an Exchange account with me as well

However, I noticed that only "new" Exchange mails get to be notified (nice looking notification window). I have checked the Send/Recieve Settings and found out that my Hotmail account is part of the group (the other is for the Exchange) for sending and recieving. I did notice one particular bit is that for hotmail account, the account options available is for only "send mails items" whereas the account options for Exchange includes "receive mail items"

Now, I hope someone can advise me on how to get/set the required settings for hotmail account to be notified automatically when there is a new mail rather than me clicking on hotmail account all the times to check for new mails

Many thanks in advance
David

This is not possible for Hotmail accounts. The notification is only
displayed when messages arrive in the inbox of the Outlook Today folder set
or when there is a rule created for other folders. Since you can't set rules
on HTTP accounts you can't be notified of new messages received in Hotmail
by Outlook 2003.

You can use MSN Messenger for this. If you don't want to be shown online by
your contacts set the status to Appear Offline.
