Recommended Number Emails Saved?

Candy

Hello,

I have a question. What is the highest number of recommended saved emails
that we should not exceed in Outlook without severely slowing it down?

Thanks,
Candy

OK. So what does that MEAN? Please give me some kind of clue from which to
operate. So many emails per so much RAM? 100's OK? 1,000's OK? What?
Can you or anyone else elaborate? If you need more info, please ask.

Thanks,
Candy

Size of pst-file
Amount of messages in a folder
Amount of total folders
Average size of messages in those folders
Speed of hard disk
Amount of memory
CPU type and speed
Version of Outlook
Amount/type of installed addins
Response time that you still find acceptable

This is an endless list. So lets turn it around. You tell what you need
(like how many messages do you need to keep in Outlook) and what your
performance issues are right now. If your example of 100 or 1000 messages is
an indication of your email usage, then you have no performance problem.

I have several hundred thousand emails saved in a single PST file,
without ever noticing any slowdown of Outlook. The file resides by
itself in a separate partition, so it will never fragment, even if it
keeps growing.
