record data corruption

Hi folks,

In one of my tables there's a record that looks like it's
partially corrupted. In two of the fields, the data
that's in there is displaying little rectangular boxes
but other fields of the record seem to be fine. I have
been unable to correct the fields nor delete the record.
Whenever I try to do either of these functions, the
message "The search key was not found in any record."
appears.

Does anyone know what this means and how to fix this
problem? Also what may cause this?

My database is split so this is occuring in the backend.
