Record Search in a Form

I have a form that I enter document numbers into a document number field. I
would like to search all existing forms to identify if that document number
has already been entered. I would like for it to search for a duplicate
number when I tab to the next field after having entered the number. Is this
possible or what is the easiest way to do this?

The easiest way to do this is to create a Unique Index on the Document
Number field in your table. In the Table Design view, select the field and
in the bottom where it says Index, choose Yes (No Duplicates)

Thanks for that information, however, in my situation, it is ok to have
duplicate document numbers. I just want to do a search to make sure that I
am not entering the same record mulitiple times.

Then create a Unique Index on some combination of fields that should be
unique for a given record. Perhaps DocumentNumber and Date (or some such.)
