record steps in powerpoint for others to see

john mcmichael

I would like to record a series of steps in PowerPoint so that people can
view the steps and see how a skill is completed. Is there a way to record
what you do on the screen so that people can play it back and see where the
mouse goes and what is being clicked on?

The second half of this question is once the recording is made, how do I
play it in PowerPoint. I would like to attach this to a slide and play when
a button is clicked.

Thanks for all the help...you guys and girls are great.

Hi John,

first of all: There is no built-in recording feature in PowerPoint.

Easiest way would be to take screenshots of each step and insert these
images into PowerPoint. In the newer versions of PPT you could even fake
mouse movements using animations.

If you need a video of the steps, you need third-party software to record
your screen. For example Camtasia, www.techsmith.de, which works very well
for me. You can link the film produced by this program to a PowerPoint
slide.

Best regards,
Ute
