A quick question regarding ODBC driver configurations, any help would be very
much appreciated.
I work in London looking at data on servers that have just been moved to
Tokyo. Because of this we have seen a drop in performance as our queries have
to make the round trip to Tokyo and back for each record fetch. Currently we
use Oracle ODBC drivers and to speed them up we have changed the prefetch
count from 10 to 9999.
My first question is: is there any possible problem with increasing this so
dramatically?
Secondly, are there any other settings that can be changed to optimise
performance?
Thirdly, we can also use the microsoft ODBC for Oracle driver, the default
buffer size is 65,535 - is this also a row count and can it also be increased?
Thanks for any advice!
