Recording actions as a 'video'

On earlier versions of Word/Windows, one could record your actions in a
'movie' format and replay them. I never got to really use this and try it
out fully. One could use this to load onto a CD for training purposes. Is
this still available and would one require new software to perform this
action. PLEASE HELP URGENTLY

I suspect you're thinking of Windows Media Encoder. You can download it
here:

The interface isn't any better than it used to be, though.

You might also consider something like Camtasia. I find it easier to use
than WME. http://www.techsmith.com
