Recordset Stored in Windows Memory

I have read about setting up something using memory in
Windows to store a virtual recordset? Not just the usual
connection ADO/DAO stuff but a copy of some table or query
into memory with all of the attributes and everything. I
remember that there was something about going into the
Control Panel and changing some settings to allow Windows
to do this. Does anyone know what I'm describing?
