Recovering a document

I accidently overwrote an excel document. And, then I accidently threw
it in the trash and emptied the trash.

The document must be in the memory of my computer. How do I retrieve
it?

Unless you had the file's "Always make a backup" option set, you're
probably out of luck. Emptying the trash removes any pointers to the
physical location of the deleted file.

The original is almost certainly not "in the memory of (your) computer."
I can't think of any applications that would keep copies of unmodified
docs in memory.

You might consider searching VersionTracker for a disk utility that
recovers files. I wouldn't hold out much hope, though.
