I have re installed Outlook 2000 and lost all my contacts (e mail address
and fax nos).

I now want to use OE6 as OL2000 opens then instantly quits. In any case I
need to recover my old address book if possible?

Depends on where you stored the contacts;
PAB-file or in your Contacts folder?

Don't you want to solve your Outlook 2000 problem?

Outlook doesn't start

1) try running scanpst.exe on your Personal Folder

It runs and say everything is fine

2) try renaming outcmd.dat to .old and restart Outlook. All the Toolbars
will reset then. This is quite a common problem with Outlook . The default
location for this file is:
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

No effect

3) try recreating the profile in Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles

I try control panel-> mail-> theres no show profiles button

4) try running Outlook with the /safe switch from your Start-> Run window.
When this works run Help-> Detect and Repair

Don't know how to do this

5) try disabling individual add-ons in Tools-> Options-> tab Other-> button
Advanced E-mail Options...

Can't open Outlook to do this

As I had never heard of the PAB file until yesterday, presumably in the
Contacts Folder.

Theres a 53k Outlook.pst file in the Outlook folder. Is there a way over
converting this to a CSV file?

Well I've just exported my contacts which only contain 89 contacts and that
is 176 KB so it looks like you might have lost all your data....

#3; delete the configured account instead and add a new personal folder
#4; you can also insert the CD, start setup and choose repair
