Very very interesting, I have had the same problem since November on a clients laptop and YES it is a dell with business contact manager (pc not affected).
I have posted the problem on the Discussions group at Microsoft but as yet no fix.

I too have spoken with Dell, the so called second line support connected remotely and tried to fix by renaming the dat files, this did not work. After waiting a week for them to get back to me I could not wait any longer so I called them. There answer was to reinstall the software (this is not an option). I spoke to the manager and he point blank said that dell is only a hardware company not a software company and they can not guarantee a fix (so why are they pre-installing software). So how I am waiting for customer services to call me, I will not hold my breath
