Red Herring

Haha..I guess I am the only one familiar with the term.

It is a vertical text box on the side of a legal brief

I guess a text box in the margin would do the trick, then. In publishing
generally, this would be a "sidebar," but I guess lawyers have another
application for that term (the original one). <g>

The term "sidebar" makes sense..I never knew any other term.

Thank you for your response

I am a legal secretary and deal with this all of the time . . . althoug
I've never heard it called a Red Herring. Are you wanting to creat
the "pleading lines" or insert your firm name in the left margin?
Pleading lines/numbers are put into a text box in the header, righ
aligned, and spaced _exactly_ at 25.1 pts.

To put in your firm name and turn it sideways, use Word Art. Choose a
easy to read font (like Ariel or Times New Roman), and rotate it. Thi
also goes in the _header_. Putting these items in the header protect
them and makes the rest of your document usable without accidentall
selecting things you don't want.

I can forward a sample if you like

I believe that is what I need. It is similar to a S4 form. If it isn't
too much trouble would you be able to forward me a sample. I will send
you my e-mail address via pm.

Thank you very much.
