Redirecting mail

How do I automatically direct mail from senders with the word "wort" or from
a special sender (e.g. Johnson) to a special folder?

Redirection is available only when using Exchange as your mailbox. This is
for Outlook 2003 (and maybe 2002). Next time, state your Outlook version.
Click Tools>Rules and Alerts>New Rule>Start from a blank rule>Next. Check
the "with specific words in the sender's address" condition. Click
"specific words". Enter "wort". Click Add. Enter "johnson". Click Add.
Click OK. Click Next. Check the "redirect it to people or distribution
list" action. Click "people or distribution list". Select the contact(s)
you want and click To. Click OK. Check the "stop processing more rules"
action. Click Next or Finish. If you click Next, you can add any
exceptions you want, then click Next or Finish. If you click Next, you can
give it a name and specify a coupl of other option. Click Finish.

If you don't use Exchange, you can choose the "forward it to people or
distribution list" action instead. Note. This will redirect messages from
any sender containing those two strings, including "johnsonville",
"hogworts", "worth", and "penderjohnson".

I have Outlook 2003. I am on an Exchange Server. I have the redirect option
in Rules and Alerts. I have followed the directions (repeatedly), but this
function will not work.

How do I trouble shoot this function?

Does the redirect rule have to be installed on the server directly, or
should you be able to do it from your desktop in Outlook?

Is Eudora really easier to use?

I forgot to add above how I know the redirect action doesn't work:

1. The messages are not redirected.

2. When "run now" is attempted, an error message appears saying that the
redirect action is not supported by run now.

I'm at the limit of my knowledge on redirect. Have you spoken with the
Exchange administrator?

If Outlook is connected to Exchange, then Exchange stores the rules and
provides the redirect.

Some would claim so. I've never used it. However, it also can't do
everything Outlook can. No calendaring or task management, for example, I
think.

I used Eudora for almost 10 years before our IT people made me switch to
outlook. For redirecting, Eudora is MUCH MUCH MUCH easier to use. A repla
pleasure in fact!
