Reducing Image File Size in a Slideshow (Mac)

B

Ben Sharvy

I made a slideshow by dragging some JPG images from the Web into the
PPT window. Some of the images were huge, and PPT seems to merely
scale them. So now I have a 39 MB slideshow, which should be half that
big, if the images were reduced in size and not merely scaled. I can't
figure out how to edit the images. They seem to be contained within
the PPT file itself. The only export option is to save a Web page,
which converts all the to GIFs so they look bad. The "Allow" PNG
option didn't result in PNG files.

I'm not sure what to do. There seems to be no way to access the images
it is using.

Before inserting photos into your slide show, save them to your computer. If
they are to large, reduce size in an image editing program before inserting.
Then use Insert - Image - From File to insert your images. Drag & drop might
be quick, but file size usually becomes huge.

Best regards,
Ute

Sure -- if you have access to PowerPoint for Windows you could use the
Compress Pictures option (that's not available on PowerPoint:mac).
