Reducing picture size.

After I insert a picture into word I use the compress
pictures from the graphics tool bar to compress the
pictures in my document, but when it is done the file
size is still the same as before i started. What am i
doing wrong?

Thanks Bob

Hi Bob,

Changing the displayed size of an image embedded in Word doesn't affect the
image's storage requirements.

So the only way to reduce the size of the picture is to
resize it before I insert it into word?

Hi Bob,

Basically, yes.

However, if your main concern is to limit the size of the Word file, try
inserting the picture as a linked image instead of embedding it. The main
drawback with this is that the picture doesn't get included if you email the
document or copy it to another disk.
