Is there any way to make reference to another line number in the text of a document? I have document line numbers turned on and want to be able to say something like " See section xxxx on line number 234 on page 23". I cannot see a way to do that.

I believe it *can* be done but IIRC it's a rather complex task which renders
a very precarious result since the referenced content might well reflow to a
different line. "Usually" a different approach will work out better.

Have you considered BookMarking the content to be referenced, then inserting
a Cross Reference to that content? Or Cross Referencing to a Numbered Item
by way of one of the Paragraph options?

Bob is correct: There is no way to cross-reference to line numbers in Word.

You can type the line number in your reference (and hope it doesn't change).

Or you can use Paragraph numbering instead of line numbering.

If you use the built-in styles Heading 1 through 9 for all of your text (not
just the headings...) then you will can apply numbering and get generated
numbers that will update automatically, and that you can you can refer to.

I suggest that you use Help>Send Feedback to explain to Microsoft that line
numbers you cannot cross-reference are not a great deal of use :)

Hope this helps
