Referencing ranges in formulas

I want to amend my formnulas in a worksheet so that I can change the range
that I want to reference in them, without changing each formula:
for example i want to use different coulmns in a spreadsheet at different
times, throuugh the same formulas and graphs.

I thought I could hold the range values in a cell independently of the
formulas/graphs, and have the formulas/graphs reference that cell for the
range to be used, but I dont know how to achieve this?
