Reformatting Computer & Uninstalling Outlook 2007

I need to reformat my computer and was wondering if I uninstall
Outlook/Office will it give me my 3 user license back?

If not, how can I get it back.

You have ONE license with the permission to have it installed on THREE
PC's in your household at one time. You do NOT lose any license.

The 3 user licence is for 3 working PC's, you can uninstall/reinstall as
often as you like, so long as it does'nt exist on more than 3 working PC's
You may have to use phone activation however

A rebuild of the operating system and reinstallation of the Office software
on the same computer doesn't take away another allowable install. But I am
curious as to your subject line and subsequent post about 3 user license.

If you have Office 2007 with Outlook you only have simultaneous installs
allowed on two computers with a retail version, one computer with an OEM
version.

2007 Home and Student version can be installed on three computers but it
doesn't have Outlook. Office 2003 Student & Teacher (S & T) had Outlook and
could be installed on three computers. Office XP S & T only allowed two
installs. So the only Office system that had 3 installs and Outlook as part
of it, to my knowledge, is 2003 S & T version.

Volume license agreements start at 5 computers.

What exact version of Office and Outlook are you in possession of and are
you posting from the U.S.? I am aware that other countries EULAs are
different than those here in the U.S. If from outside U.S. it would be
educational for all to know the different licensing arrangements that
Microsoft has in different countries. Thanks.

Outlook 2007 (as in the subject) doesn't come with Home and Student....
I think the OP needs to be less vague as to what he has...

Excellent answer and thank you. I am in the US and I am running Vista
Business on my home Sony Laptop which is currently up to date on all SP's.

I am running Outlook 2007 that I bought as a single product at Best Buy so I
do not currently have the rest of the Office Suite. I am considering
purchasing the H & S version and it comes as a 3 user version I believe. I
just assumed (and I guess wrongly) that my Outlook came as a 3 user version
as well.

I usually reformat my hard drive every 12 months or so just to speed things
up and removed all of the garbage that has built up over time. I'm sure
there are utilities out there that do "pretty much" the same thing but I like
knowing that I have a brand new install.

Since I do reformat my computer on a semiregular basis and that is why I
asked the question about getting my number of installs back. I know that I
have to enable the product over the web after the install so this brings me
back to my original question: Should I uninstall the product before I
reformat? Or, as I have done in the past after replacing a HD on a computer,
I have had to call a phone number (which is how a previous poster answered).

Good answers to my question.

You don't have to uninstall prior to rebuilding and reinstalling.

Have you considered investing about $40.00 - $50.00 to purchase a program
like Acronis True Image Home 2009 (yes I would recommend that program) that
will allow you to clone the hard drive after you reinstall all the programs
and have it just like you want it to a backup USB drive. You can reimage it
again with a different name if you add any software. When you want to
rebuild then all you have to do is run the Acronis recovery from the clone
and the drive is just like you made it a year ago. Takes a lot less time
than reinstalling the OS and all the programs. We are talking an hour or so
instead of hours. Also will probably save the problem of having to
reactivate each time.
