Refresh problems w. project 2007 on XP

Daniel Lowicki

Hi,

anything I can do about refresh problems? When I print a task list I am
often missing branches.
Same thing on screen .. the lines are just not there til I refresh the tree
by fading out and in the complete tree.

Anyone?

Hello Daniel,

I'm not sure I follow your post completely (I have no idea what
"fading in and out in the completed tree means) but I assume you are
having trouble with both printing a Gantt chart view and viewing it on
your computer screen.

I notice some delay in updating screens when using Project 2007 on XP.
Turning off the 3-D effects on the task bars has gone a long way
towards solving that issue. Go to Tools > Options, View tab to
disable and see if that helps.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie,

sorry .. times occur that I don't know the correct English wording :-(

Pressing a "-" fades out a branch or makes it invisible or folds it in ..
etc.
Pressing a "+" fades it in.

So my problem has to do with the task list itself and not with the Gannts.
It just happens that some lines are simply not there though the branch is
faded in.
I need to manually refresh -/+ .. then all is fine again.
Hope the problem is a bit clearer now.

BTW .. I always wanted to turn off the 3D bars .. someone told me that its
not possible in Project 2007.
Thanks for the pointer .. possibly PDF generation works a bit better with
this unchecked.

Hello Daniel,

You're welcome for the assistance. Thanks for the clarification about
the "+" and "-" commands. I had assumed you were zooming in, but from
your description, it's clearer that you were collapsing and expanding
the task list. Sorry for my confusion :)

I'm not a hardware specialist by any means, but there have been
reports in this newsgroup that using project on a laptop connected to
a docking station causes some problems with screen display. Are you
in the same situation?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Ah yessss .. would have been so easy .. collapsing and expanding .. great.
No .. I am using a stationary system.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the update. Again, I'm not a hardware specialist but
obviously if you can fix the problem by expanding and collapsing the
outline, it sounds as though it is a screen refresh. Are you perhaps
running Project on an older computer/monitor with minimal RAM for
video?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie,

the system us up-to-date but runs XP .. could be that Project 2007 is
optimized for Vista .. this may be the culprit.
Thanks a lot for thinking along .. lets close this issue until I do some
testing on Vista.

Hi Daniel,

I don't think it is an operating system issue. I run Project 2007 on
Windows XP SP-2 without problems. Do keep us posted on any further
discoveries that you make.
