Refreshing Issues

I am relatively a newbie and am having an extremely
frustrating problem and hope there is some genius out
there that might be able to advise me what to do. Here's
the problem:

I have built a multi-user database (front end and back
end). Staff use this to enter in their daily activity and
other codes for time management etc. I have built a form
for our receptionist to be able to see who is coming in
and check them in as arrived. I have the database's
refresh interval set to 300 secs so the front end and back
end update frequently so both reception and staff can see
almost real time whats going on. Where it starts getting
ugly is that when a staff member is completing other forms
in the database (i.e. discharge form), it seems that they
will be in the middle of the form, typing away, the
refresh will occur and that the form that they are
currently working on sort of refreshes as well and the
field that they where working on jumps to a different
field and causes error. Is there another way around this
refreshing thing? Can I somehow synch the front end and
back end in a different way?

Please any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not know how do you get the refresh happening, just an idea and do not know
if it works:

Test Access.Application.CurrentObject before refreshing to see whether the
form to be refreshed is the current object in Access application. if it is
not, that means, user may working on other form, so do not refresh. It is
just natural if the form displaying the periodically refreshed data is not
cuurent form, there is not point to refresh it.
