Regarding Duration estimate

Hi,

Can any one tell me whether the tool will be able to calculate the
"Variable length task" duration automatically in this below situation.

For (eg)
ID Tasks Duration Start
date Finish Date Predecessors Constraint
1. task a 2 days Fri 6/20/08 Mon 6/23/08
2 . Variable length task 1 day? Tue 6/24/08 Tue 6/24/08 1
3. task b 4 days Tue 7/1/08 Fri
7/4/08 start no earlier than

I have set fixed units for the Task type.

The only way to have this sort of "variable length task" is to use what is
called a hammock task where the start of a task is pasted as a link into the
hammock task start and the same with the finish.

However, in my experience hammock tasks are troublesome and I rarely use or
recommend them.

In that case the short answer is No.
