Register Policy Settings adjustment in Word 2003?

For some reason I can NO LONGER open the documents that I had created in
some earlier versions of Micro Soft Word. Upon till a few months ago I had no
problem when opening the documents. Now when I try to open the Doc's. I get a
message across the scree stating that Die to my "Register Policy settings"
this document can no longer be opened

Can someone please help me, or explian to me how I can adjustments to my HP
desk top "Register Policy Settings.
