Registry Change

If I make the KATMA registry change which was discussed by Ed Bennett in a
5-5-2005 question/response - so each job is sent separately rather than in
batches of 10 would I have a long pause after each job as I do after the 10
jobs now. Or is the
wait after the 10 jobs due to re-spooling and thus a single job would be
faster.
Thanks.

There would most likely be a shorter per-job wait, but a slightly longer
time to print the whole document due to increased overheads.

Thank you. Now let me ask 2 questions - 1. if we can change the registry to
send 1 at a time is there a way to send the entire job at one time say 500
newsletters to a hard drive on a printer so the printer can do all of the
spooling, rather than in batches of 10 - 50 times?

Did I miss the second question?

You can change the batch size to whatever you want. Setting the registry
key to 1 sets a batch size of 1, which prints individually. Although I've
never needed to do it, I have no doubt that you can set the registry key to
500, and print in batches of 500.

The 2nd question (now that I know we could do a larger batch) is how/where
would I find the instructions on making this registry change? I've done it
once before in another program but it was a long time ago ... of course I
will be very very careful. Thank you.

Open registry using regedit.exe

Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\<Publisher
Version>\Publisher\Printing

Create new "string value" called:
NumberOfRecordsPerBatch

Double click and set the value to 500
