Reinstall of Access in Office 2003 not working

F

I recently had to reformat my harddrive. After reinstalling Office 2003, all
of its elements (Word, Excel etc.) worked properly except for Access. When I
attempt to start Access, a panel pops up saying "Please wait while Windows
configures Microsoft Office Professional 2003 Edition". The progress bar at
the bottom of this panel seems to go through the configuration process after
which the panel disappears. Uninstalling and reinstalling Office has no
effect. Any suggestions?

Go to Control Panel in Windows XP, go to Add and Remove Programs - select
your MS Office 2003 and click the button change or whatever for 2003 version
and go into the part where you can repair or reinstall options for Access
2003 only. And make sure you have the latest version of service packs for the
OS and than install the MS Office 2003 service pack 3.

Thanks very much for the suggestion. Unfortunately, however I am still
experiencing the same problem. Regards.

My previous experience with were due to XP updates. Not sure why yours can't
install correctly.

Another is your CD might be faulty. Have you tried installing it on another
PC?

Yes, I am able to install Access on another machine from my disk and it was
previously successfully installed using this disk on the "problem" machine
before reformatting.

The last thing I can think of is the CD drive drivers. Sometimes a CD disk
can't read on a brand A but can read on a brand B and at times read partially
or install half way with error.

You might want to try downloading your CD drivers from the brand's web site.
Hope it works for you.

Thanks so much for all your suggestions. Since I am not too comfortable
messsing around with drivers, I plan to take the machine into the repair shop
when I get a chance and let them have a go at it. It may take a while since
it is located quite a distance from my home. I will let you know if I have
any success. I really appreciate all the trouble you have gone to in trying
to resolve this problem.
