Reinstall of student teacher to new computer?

I just tried to reinstall my student and teacher version
of office xp to a new computer... and I get a message
that this program has already been activated and I only
get 15 more uses...

What's the deal with that? I know that I can't upgrade
it, but if I can't reuse it I"m out $180. Can anyone help?
