reinstall Office 2000 but cannot update, error:the update program did not locate the expected versio

Just installed Office 2000 SR-1. When goto update and downloaded th
SP1 following error mssg returned:

The update program did not locate the expected version of MS office i
this machine.

Anyone can help

Which SP1? There is no SP1 for Office 2000

Hi Peter

Sorry, it should be update SR-1a, which is said need to be done befor
instal SP-3.

After I installed Office 2000 SR-1, I download the updates and ru
them, it just returns an error mssg suggesting there is no Office 200
software installed on the computer, which is not true.

Then I surf the web for an answer, and someone suggest the followin
update have to be installed first : Office 2000 SR-1 administrato
updates (issued in May 2000) file name : O2KSR1aDL.exe, BUT that fil
has already been removed by Microsoft from their Office Update Site so
cannot locate it.

If you do a search of this forum, you'll find links to the file you need, but
they won't be on a Microsoft site. Peter is incorrect; the short file (the
one he refers to) doesn't work and the long file has been removed from the MS
site.
