reinstall office xp on new machine

Have had generations of Office since '94; faithfully/expensivelly upgrading
with each new release. Have store-bought upgrade version of XP with reg #'s
on case. Computer it was loaded on got fried (along with network, hubs,
routers, and almost me) in thunderstorm.

Now have brand new cpu with empty hard drive. Want to load my xp version on
it, but setup routine doesn't recognize pre-existing version of office (which
isn't installed, obviously.)

How can I load my very legal version of office? tnx ia

Drop the old CD into the CD drive when it asks for verification of an older
version.

Tnx for reply Milly. Unfortunately, doesn't work. Only cd I have for old pgm
is Office (yep, believe it!) 4.2; not certain where subsequent updates have
gone; sure not here, and probably got trashed during a move. Do have a Lotus
Suite 97. (Software museum?).

If I can resurrect hard drive from old machine, can I bring in a couple of
layers of old folders to new machine, so that setup can read them?

Again, tnx.
