reinstall Office

Need to reinstall Office and I have CD but is upgrade so is looking for
original program. Will this work if I install Works or will I need a copy of
Office?

You will need the original qualifying product but you do not need to install it - simply "show" it to the installation when it asks, once verified, remove the CD, reinsert your Office CD and continue the installation.

As a reminder, the license for the upgrade stipulates that the qualifying product becomes a part of the upgrade and cannot be separated - so you cannot sell your qualifying product without also selling the upgrade. This also means that you must keep the QP as long as you intend to use the upgrade.

thanks so far. I think the original product came preloaded on my computer-
the only disk I can find has Works not Office, do you think this is enough

Depends on what version of Works and what version of Office. I seem to
recall that the Office XP upgrade does not accept any version of Works
as a qualifying product, but the Office 2003 upgrade does accept Works
as a qualifying product. Your version of Works must predate your
version of Office (e.g., you cannot use Works 8.5 to upgrade to Office
97, because Works 8.5 is much newer than Office 97).
