My system crashed - I need to reinstall Microsoft Office 2007 Home and
Student. I have the original disk and the product key. But I don't have an
external drive to run the disk. Any solutions?

1. Puchase an external drive.

2. Copy the disck onto a USB flash drive and try installing it from that.

You could copy the disk file onto a USB jump drive and run it from there or
download the trial version from this location:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/trial/default.aspx

With Office 2010 around the corner, that web URL might not be available
soon, so download as soon as possible to the computer without the external
drive, and use your legitimate product key to unlock the trial version.

4 possible options:

1. Go to this web site and download the retail reinstall package for the
Office version you have (a long download so you need broadband setup)
http://www.microsoft.com/office/downloads/

2. Use a computer that has a DVD/CD drive, copy the entire disc onto a USB
drive of some type and then use the USB drive on your net book to load
Office.

3. Network two computers together where one has a drive and share it with
the net book to run the installation from.

4. Purchase an external CD/DVD drive for your use now and in the future.

I would second what LVTravel said:

as I presume you have a netbook and that you have a Recovery DVD rather than
a hidden partition to use when returning your machine to factory spec... and
they're not expensive...
