I sent my WinBook J4 laptop to the manufactuers to obtain
a new keyboard as 2 of the keys fell off. It was returned
to me with a reconfigured hardrive with a new copy of XP
on it. I reinstalled all my software including Office XP
professional. Previously it worked faultlessly. Now
after I type a few characters the program freezes and
a "not responding" title appears. If I wait long enough
the cursor reappears and I can start retyping. At other
times the freeze is permanent and I have to close the
application. I also have noticed that the space bar
intermittently doesn't insert a space - though this may
not be the main problem.
I contacted WinBook who suggested I restart rapidly
pushing the F8 key. I then restarted without all the
extensions. Now Word Pad was working again. But Office
wasn't. This they attributed to software and suggested
there was a problem with the program saving every few
seconds. I switched off all the saving defaults in the
office Word program. It continued to do this.
I have tried uninstalling the keyboard driver - no help.
I have tried reinstalling office several times - no help.
I have discarded "normal. - no help.
I don't know what to do next. I have a poorly
functioning product.
I note when I type this I am having problems at time with
the space bar which I amcorrecting(!). This didn't happen
with the previous keyboard.
Any ideas - I need Microsoft Office run my medical office.
