Reinstalling Just Word XP?

S

Steve M

For some reason, starting up and closing Word documents has become unusually
slow. I have had this problem for awhile. It is more of an annoyance than
anything else, but I should have plenty of processor resources so I suspect
this is a Word XP or Office XP issue. Also, my "normal" file seems to remain
open for a short period of time after I close the document as well and then
it closes itself. I am thinking that something became corrupted along the
way in Word XP.

Does it make sense to uninstall and then reinstall Word XP or the uninstall
and then reinstall the entire Office XP application? I noted in my list of
install and remove programs that only Office XP is listed, not the individual
programs. But can I just reinstall Word XP since that seems to be the only
one that has problems?

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Regards,
Steve

Rarely does uninstalling and reinstalling any office program fix
problems. Instead, from the Help Menu inside of Word, select Detect
and Repair.

Be sure to try all the solutions found at:

Thanks. I'll give detect and repair a try. I'll also check to make sure I
am not logging things to the outlook journal. Regards, Steve
