1. Go to Control panel – Printer and fax
2. Add Printer – select local printer attached then manual
3. In the port option select Document image printer writer port
4. Install a generic text only printer.
5. Right-click on the generic text/only printer driver and select
properties.
6. Click on ports and select "Microsoft office document imaging driver
port".
7. Click on the advanced tab and change the driver to Microsoft office
document image writer.
8. Click on apply and OK.

Hi Dan,

You may need to do a repair/reinstall of MS Office 2003
from Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel
if you check the Office features there and the
MS Office 2003 Document Image Writer is already shown
as installed.

======
Followed your instruction exactly, but after installation it won't print. >>

I was having the same problem, Suznne S Barnhill gave me the following
instructions and it worked for me:

Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Microsoft Office
[Edition] 2003 | Change | Add or Remove Features, check the box for "Choose
advanced customization of applications." Select Microsoft Office Tools and
click the + beside Microsoft Office Document Imaging. Make sure that
Microsoft Office Document Image Writer is set to "Run from my computer."
Then click Update.

Creating the new printer worked for me. It didn't work at first because
I didn't change the driver, but once I changed the driver it worked.
You change the driver under the "advanced" tab.

I used the simplest of subterfuges to get my Image Writer back. I use
the Microsoft Office Setup Disk to 'add/remove' programs. The Imag
Writer was already checked as being installed so I changed it to 'Do no
install' and ran the change. Then I simply reversed the procedure an
selected 'Run from Computer' and hey presto, the printer was back.
didn't even have to do a reboot. By the way, the Image Writer can b
found under 'Tools' in the setup.

I have found that 'Repair' programs seldom work

You're posting to a Usenet newsgroup, Sparky. Techarina is nothing but a
leech that attracts illiterate morons, like yourself, who reply to a SIX
YEAR OLD POST!!!!
Besides, you don't have the minimum required gray matter to moderate a group
of sleeping infants.

I can see that you, Michael, are a person wise in your own eyes but i
may interest you to know that this thread is as relevant today as i
ever was. indeed it was only today that I restored my own Image Write
to full health. The web is swarming with people who have lost thei
Image Writer Printer and do not know what to do. Some of us seek t
remedy that situation, which I assume is the purpose of this forum.

I would, therfore, be obliged if you would confine your remarks to th
problem in hand and not resort to silly insults because they only mak
you look little in the eyes of others.

Thank you in anticipatition

I've lost track of the thread because techarina morons like you refuse to
quote any of what you're replying to, but that falls under that minimum
required gray matter thing.

This is not a forum. It's a newsgroup. Get that through your soft head,
and it still doesn't excuse you from replying to a post older than you.

It seems to me you have your problem in your hand a bit more than is
considered normal. I'm avoiding using the word "little" in this reply
because I don't want to cause you further embarrassment.
Thank you in anticipatition.
