Reinstalling OEMOffice on new machine

C

Chas

I bought an OEM version of Office XP (legally, from a well-
known retail chain) and installed it on one of two
machines in my office. I since have switched to a newer
machine which I would like to transfer Office XP.
Can this be done? I've reviewed some information on MS
support and it indicated that there can be only one
install of the OEM version (plus and install on a laptop
which is not applicable here).
Is there any way to switch Office to the new machine,
deleting it from the older box?
Thanks for any information.

You can't legally buy an OEM copy of Office in a retail chain for
installation on an existing computer-- OEM copies of Office come with
hardware from "Original Equipment Manufacturers". Furthermore, OEM copies
cannot legally be tranferred between machines.

However, if you bought a "Retail" copy of Office, which is what is legally
sold at retail chains (Staples, Best Buy, etc), then you can simply remove
Office from the old machine, and install it on the new one.
