Reinstalling Office XP upgrade

My computer was hit by a virus and I had to do a complete restore. Now I
want to reinstall my copy of Office XP Standard upgrade but I no longer have
my previous version of Office that the upgrade is looking for. Microsoft
wants a fee for technical support which I would prefer not to pay. How can I
bypass this requirement? My upgrade was legally purchased and registered
with Microsoft when originally installed.

You need the qualifying product to use an upgrade version. When you used
the upgrade version, you basically incorporated the qualifying product as a
part of the upgrade license.

Without the qualifying product, you cannot install the upgrade. You may
find an old Works disc lying around that you can use for upgrade.
