Reinstalling Outlook 2007

Athena

Hello,

Many things are going wrong with my Outlook 2007:

1. Reminders come in doubles!
2. Business contact manager does not start
3. It takes too long to open
4. When it is closed it stays in the memory.

I would like to reinstall it hoping that some of these problems can be
solved (some inherit in Outlook). Questions:

1. Can I just install the Outlook from Office 2007 disk
2. Will I loose my business contacts ( currently I cannot open the
database and no one can help me on this I posted before)
3. Can I save email account information from the existing installation
and transfer rhea new one.
4. When I install the new one how can I introduce the existing pst file
to the new installation?

Thank you all,

Athena

Close Outlook, then open Outlook using the /cleanreminders switch to try and
rectify your duplicate reminders:

Start > Run > outlook.exe /cleanreminders

The above command (outlook.exe /cleanreminders) must be typed exactly.

Regarding BCM, I have not used it so perhaps someone else can respond.

If Outlook takes too long to open, perhaps it did not shut down properly. If
it is not shutting down properly, the most common causes are FAX software,
synch software that works with a handheld, etc. You can read further here:

http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/outlookdoesntclose.htm

Backup and restore: http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm

Uninstalling and reinstalling rarely solves an issue. Please try the above
and then let me know what happens.

Thank you Kathleen. The double reminder and slow start problem are
resolved. I am now struggling with the BCM problem. And nobody is
helping. Is it true that reinstalling Outlook will not fix the BCM
problem? Or can I uninstall BCM and reinstall that one only?

Sincerely,

Athena
