Relearning and Barcodes

I am getting back into Access and I have been tasked with finding something
that will help with reading a barcode. Has anyone had any success with not
just printing barcodes onto documents or labels, but actually using a device
that will interact from the product barcode into an Access DB? If so, what
is it?

Bar codes are just a specific font(s). Using a bar-code reading device is
like using a second keyboard. The data is translated inside the reader, and
transmitted to the PC as clear-text.

Because of that, I'm not sure what you issue might be....

Most use a barcode scanner that plugs in via the keyboard port so a scanned
code appears to Access just as if the characters were typed from the
keyboard. No special programming needed.

Are you printing the product barcode or are you trying to read a barcode
printed from some outside source? If yoiu are trying to read an outside
printed barcode, there are many different types of barcode. Are all the
barcodes you want to read the same type? If you are trying to read outside
barcodes, you first need to find out what type they are.

Sure. Most barcode readers have a "wedge" interface - they hook up to
the computer's keyboard port, and (usually) the keyboard hooks onto
that. You would set the focus to a textbox on the form and scan - the
computer just sees someone typing very fast and very accurately. No
special programming is needed.

Steve can you actually read? Suzanne said "not just printing barcodes onto
