Reloading my office 2000 after reformating hard drive

T

TBILL

My computer is an HP Pavilion that came with windows 98.
I upgraded to XP.
I did not download all of the patches for XP and got many
worms, my Mcafee and Ad Aware detected and said they were
deleted, but regardless of being on-line or working off-
line they showed every time I ran a scan. I decided to
reformat my hard drive and reload my software. Although I
have had legal registered "office" that I transferred
from my previous computer and sucessfully upgraded to
2000, it now stops loading when I enter my product code.
It says I do not meet qualification for this upgrade.
What is the solution?

PS. I have spent the last 2 days downloading 54 XP
patches and have changed to a DSL provider starting next
week.

Last week there was an article in the "Wall Street
Journal" Stating virus providers are proactive and virus
protection software is reactive making the gap limited
value added.

Thanks TBILL

You need the qualifying product that you used for your upgrade version. The
EULA states that the QP becomes part of your upgrade license. Without the
quallifying product, you are ineligible to use the upgrade. Find your
original qualifying product, insert it when Office attempts to validate your
eligibility for the upgrade version of Office 2000, and you will be fine.

If you no longer have the Qualifying Product, your license is invalid and
you must purchase a new full copy of Office. Office 2000 retail is not
available (Microsoft no longer stocks it as well) and XP is hard to find.
2003 is the latest available and you would qualify for the upgrade by using
your Office 2000 CD.
