Remaining Work change - the approver is not aware of the prev. val

When a Resource have changed the Remaining work value in the timesheet, the Approver can not see the previous 'Remaining work' or 'Work' value for comparison. We can't instruct Project Managers to open MSP Professional every time they need to approve the actuals - to see if the remaining work was not changed without any reason (assume that the resource did not attach note about remaining work change).

Instruct your team members to insert a note on any task in which they
adjusted the Remaining Work value. The note should document the reason for
changing the value and indicate the previous value before it was changed.
For example, a note might read, "Adjusted Rem. Work from 40 hours to 80
hours because initial estimate was too low." Instruct your project managers
to look for notes when approving task updates. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Dale, but our point is different - we want the employees to work less during tasks reporting, and not to forse them to fill notes. Even if the employee explains why she increased the remaining work, she may not write what the previous value was - and the manager still can not know what is the inpact of the change on the duration of entire project (if there are links to another tasks for example).

Have you considered using one of the additional Baseline's
available to store the original Work estimate. You also
might want to consider adding a column and customizing the
formula to show your old remaing work value. I think you
will need to add the new field to your published list in
Pro, then re-publish the project file and add the new
value to a view in PWA for everyone to see it. Good Luck.
I hope this helps a bit.

Look at the Work Variance field, it might be what you are
looking for.

Thanks, looks like it is working!

Another question - what field represent the original
remaining work in Pro - i think that creating the baseline
before every approval is not so friendly..
